CHARACTER
Name: Aigis
Canon: Persona 3
Age:  13 years old, physically she looks about 18.
Timeline: Persona 4 Arena (very beginning of Ultimax, after Red Fog appears)

Personality:
First and foremost, Aigis is a machine. It's a lot less obvious now than it was before she met Minato, but it shows in her lack of worldly understanding. After traveling with Mitsuru and solving conflicts, her personality develops much more, and she seems more human than ever.

She senses and behaves according to the emotions of those around her at times. Ever since her first week of life on Yakushima, she has been learning empathy, and independence. In social situations, Aigis prefers to discover things for herself when confronted with the unknown, but is often troubled when trying to define non-literal terms. Academically, she's below average, but has excellent retention. She never forgets a name or a face, due to her computerized brain. Her social skills are less than stellar, however... tact is not something she was programmed with, and 'social cues' are still somewhat alien to her. She will point out or say things that other characters may prefer she keep to herself, such as when she began discussing the difference between herself and Yukari's body measurements in front of their friends.

Though her intentions are nothing but good, Aigis' opinion on 'what is best' for her friends does not always mesh with others. When she returns from repairs before New Year's, she pleads with SEES to kill Ryoji and forget about the impending Fall which they have decided to fight. In her mind, the logical choice is not to fight something which supposedly cannot be beaten-- and she feels useless because she is 'merely a weapon' that failed at its function in fighting Ryoji and has no worth. When her friends explain that Aigis is too important to them to be forgotten, and that their friendship matters more than the anxiety of knowing about the Fall, she has a revelation about what it means to be human; that she can gain a new purpose, one that she herself chose. Her persona evolves from the mechanical Palladion into the more humanlike Pallas Athena, and she begins to pursue a closer relationship with the Protagonist soon afterward.

New feelings and emotions, along with her tendency to misunderstand people's 'vibes', can cause her frustration. She can sense, under most circumstances, a small amount of a person's true nature. This is how she knows that Ryoji is a threat (though nothing more), before remembering what he is (Death), and why she can detect the 'mood' of SEES and inquire about what's causing it. Aigis also stands out with stiff mannerisms and has a habit of taking colloquialisms too literally. Not being one to judge however, Aigis always seeks an understanding which won't lead to conflict when dealing with disputes.

She was constructed as a military weapon, her personality and beautiful looks only intended to assist in her awareness of self (and thus, a Persona); so her proficiency at combat isn't at all surprising. Easily capable of athletic feats and and even some acrobatics, she moves with a fluidity and grace you typically would not expect from a machine. She can sometimes push herself too hard, such as when she overheated and broke apart fighting Ryoji, refusing to back down because of personal guilt.  When her friends are threatened, Aigis is like lightning. All bets are off. She strikes down anyone or anything that would dare to harm her allies, and can even seem cold or merciless in those situations. The Aigis in battle and the Aigis in public are very different 'settings'. (During the P-1 Grand Prix in Inaba, this earned her the title "Heartless Armed Angel")

Speaking of allies, there are many she cares about, but perhaps only one she would truly die for; her leader, Minato Arisato. Her love for Minato is boundless, and plainly obvious to anyone who has seen them together. Although her obsession with him began the day they reunited at Yakushima (ten years after she forgot sealing Death inside him), it has grown beyond merely 'needing to be by his side' into a genuine desire, not programming. Aigis is devoted, body and soul, to protecting him and staying by him. She was the one cradling him when he spoke his last words, and the day he saved them from Nyx, she actually cried. She stands up to her name, as a shield for Minato and others- Athena's buffing skills also reflect this.

During the Answer, in Metis we are given a glimpse into the raw emotion inside Aigis. She has a terrible fear of being left alone, and sometimes needs reassurance that she won't get left behind by others. She needs friends to stay close to, and to take care of. She is very emotionally dependent, handling loneliness less easily than most. Since she "found her Answer", Aigis has grown in spirit and simply wants to make the world a better place, one that does not desire the Fall or death, as her lifelong homage to Minato. She and Yukari become closer as friends through the struggles they endured, and even room together for a short while.

A few years later, the quiet town of Inaba was rocked by a series of strange events, which eventually drew the attention of Mitsuru and her special Shadow elimination unit (of which Aigis and Akihiko were members). The three of them arrive in Inaba to search for a stolen "sister" unit similar to Aigis, named Labrys. Aigis had a personal investment in finding Labrys, since she considered her family and wanted to make sure she was safe.

When Aigis finds out that Labrys is in denial about being a robot and won't accept her Shadow, she faces the creature herself, defeating it and encouraging Labrys to face the truth. In exchange, her "sister" is granted her own Persona, and Aigis finally finds someone to call "family".

Abilities:
Aigis has guns built into her hands. Her fingertips become the barrels and ammo is equipped at the wrist. She has precision aim, excellent balance, can jump extremely high and run very fast.

Then she's got her main ability, the reason for her construction: a Persona, known as Athena. When her Persona (a manifestation of her psyche) appears, it can use several abilities including healing, defense boosts and physical attacks. These powers draw on either mental or physical strength, meaning long battles can tire her out easily.

She also has a function called "Orgia Mode" which releases the limiters on her output, allowing maximum combat efficiency in exchange for a period of downtime to cool from resulting overheating.
